Who is JESUS?

Jesus is the Savior, our Redeemer, our Deliverer, God in the flesh of man who came to earth to die for the sins of the world.

1st Timothy 3:16 [KJV]
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

John 1:29 [KJV]
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus was born of a virgin who conceived with a Son born of the Holy Spirit of God, this was Jesus. Jesus was God with us, or God in the flesh who came to earth to dwell, or live amongst and minister to his people Israel and mankind.

Matthew 1:18-23 [KJV]
¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Jesus was born for one purpose, to be a holy offering from God for the sins of his people and the sins of the world.

When Jesus was grown at the age of 30, he began his ministry to save mankind, preaching the good news of the salvation of God and the coming kingdom of God.

Mark 1:15 [KVJ]
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

To bring in God’s salvation, and bring in God’s kingdom to earth, Jesus would have to sacrifice his life and die on the cross for the sin of all men.

Jesus even foretold his coming death.

Matthew 20:18-19 [KJV]
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Jesus also foretold his rising from the dead the third day following his death on the cross. Jesus being God in the flesh, would not die, but rise from the dead into the glory of his Father in heaven.

John 19:30 [KVJ]
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Jesus, therefore, finished his work on the cross dying for the atonement, or forgiveness, for our sins, and he also conquered death, the grave, and hell, and the devil.

Luke 24:1-7 [KJV]
¶ Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

Jesus was raised to life everlasting and ascended to God to sit at the right hand of God in heaven given all power over earth and heaven.

Neither is there any name but the name of Jesus who can save men today from their sins.

John 1:10-14 [KJV]
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Acts 4:12 [KJV]
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The Prophesy of Jesus

The Holy Bible is the Prophesy of Jesus the Christ, the son of God, the God of creation, the true living God and his gospel, or good news, of God’s salvation for mankind to live with God for eternity in everlasting life.

The Holy Bible starts with the creation of the universe, or heavens and the earth, and all creation of all creatures living in the sea, air and land including all plants, trees, and vegetation. God also created mankind in the first human beings, Adam, and Eve. Adam and Eve lived in a Garden of Eden God created and they fellowshipped with God in perfect peace and harmony.

The Holy Bible records that God commanded man not to eat of a certain tree in middle of the garden, the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Despite this command by God, man was deceived by the Devil, or a sinfully prideful archangel of God who sought to destroy God’s fellowship with man. The Devil in the form of a serpent deceived Eve into eating of the tree God forbid, and lied to the woman who gave the forbidden fruit to her husband Adam.

This caused the first sin, or transgression of God’s law, by man against God.

God cursed man and the woman and the serpent. God forced man out of the Garden of Eden and away from the holy presence of God. Thus, man had disobeyed God and was cast away from the presence of God into the larger world.

Thus, all men and women and children today are born under, and covered by, the curse of Adam and Eve’s sin. Therefore, all men and women sin and fall short of the glory of God.

Because the Devil had destroyed God’s perfect harmony with man, God had to set in motion a plan to redeem mankind from the curse of sin, being physical and spiritual death.

The Holy Bible is the story, history, testimony, and prophesy of God and his glorious plan to make right the wrong done by the Devil in God’s Garden of Eden and redeem mankind back to God and to new state of righteous fellowship with Almighty God in his holy kingdom forever, so man can live once again in God’s holy presence and glorify God forever. In the end God will live in the presence of his people and he will be their God and be glorified by his people in perfect harmony and peace.

In time, God would again appear to man. God appeared to a man named Abram, who would listen to God and obey his commandments. God blessed Abram and changed his name to Abraham. Abraham even obeys God’s commandment to sacrifice his own son Isaac who Abraham prepared to kill with a knife following God’s command. But God stopped Abraham at the last second and prevented him from killing his own son. Therefore, God blessed Abraham greatly for his faith in God and his obedience. God blessed Abraham saying “in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” God prophesied and promised Abraham that his seed would be as the sand of the shore or stars of the heavens. The promise of God would extend to Abraham’s son’s future children and their children and their children’s children, for all eternity.

Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac had sons, one named Jacob who God blessed. God later changed Jacob’s name to Israel, and Israel would have twelve children. These twelve children of Israel became in time twelve tribes of people whom God would choose or show his salvation and mighty works to, and appear to, make a covenant with, giving his law and commandments to live a holy righteous life within the presence of God.

The people of Israel by obeying God, and maintaining holiness, would be a light to the other nations and the hope was that Israel would cause other nations to also worship and glorify God.

The Holy Bible recorded that Israel failed to obey God and repeatedly sinned breaking God’s commandments. When Israel sinned against God, God required sacrificial offerings for the sins by the people of Israel to make an atonement for the sins the people committed against God.

If Israel sinned there were judgements and God would impose punishments on the people of Israel, and if they turned from their wickedness and sought God, he would deliver or restore them to safety from their circumstances.

The overall history of Israel is unfortunate in that the twelve tribes of Israel repeatedly rebelled and sinned against God and his commandments, breaking his covenant God made with the children of Israel.

God would send from each generation holy men of God who would remind the people of Israel to return to following God and his commandments, his law. The holy men of God were known as prophets of God. The prophets not only warned Israel to return to God, but would also prophesy of the great plan God had for restoring Israel and its people back to God.

God, after dividing Israel, and punishing Israel, and casting Israel off their land into the nations, would again have mercy and shed his grace upon Israel and promise to restore Israel, to redeem Israel from her many sins against God.

This overall Prophesy by God’s many prophets were of the chosen One of God, and the anointed of God, a Chosen Seed of Abraham from among his seed. Out of Israel was to come a deliverer, and a redeemer, a savior, a Messiah, or anointed one, the Christ of God.

This Prophesy concerned the coming savior, Israel’s redeemer, the Christ, Jesus the Son of God, born out from among mankind, the Adamic race and out of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’s seed, out of the people of Israel, out of the Israelite tribe of Judah.

This is the story, testimony, and prophesy concerning the Son of man, the Son of God, Jesus, God’s salvation to Israel and all of mankind.

It is through the testimony, ministry, and the work of Jesus the Christ that God will redeem mankind back to a healthy holy righteous relationship with Almighty God, so that man can commune with and glorify God for all eternity.

The Birth of Jesus

The Holy Bible records the birth of Jesus by a woman named Mary, whom was of Israel of the tribe of Judah and a descendant of the house of David. Mary was a virgin espoused to a man named Joseph, whom was himself born out of the Israelite tribe of Judah and a descendent of king David, a great king blessed of God who once ruled all the twelve tribes of Israel.

Mary was visited by an archangel of God, Gabriel, one of God’s chief messengers. The angel Gabriel informed Mary that she was chosen by God to bear a son and in her virgin state.

The angel informed Mary the Holy Ghost would come upon her and by the power of God she would conceive with a child of God. Mary was told by the angel his name would be called JESUS for he would be the Son of God and he would reign over the twelve tribes of Israel on the throne of his father king David. He shall reign over the house of Jacob, or Israel, and of his kingdom there shall have no end. Her son JESUS would also be born to save Israel and her people from their sins.

Mary’s son, God’s Son, was the prophesied holy One, the chosen One, anointed, or the Messiah whom the holy prophets of Israel had foretold of in their prophesies long ago.

One such prophesy was that a virgin out of Israel would conceive a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel which means God with us.

God was with man, Jesus was born of the Adamic race, of man in the flesh, however he was also God in the flesh, of the son of David, son of Mary, the Son of God.

Jesus was born during a great astronomical wonder in the heavens above, at the time of his birth, there appeared a great bright star. Three Magi, or wisemen, traveled a great distance following the star which was to be a sign of new born King of the Jews. They followed the star until it stopped over the place where Jesus lay and brought three gifts. One gift was of gold the precious metal of God, one gift of Frankincense, the holy fragrance for God, and the last gift myrrh, a substance used for one’s burial to denote his future sacrifice and death on the cross for the sins of Israel and all of mankind.

The Life and Ministry of Jesus

The Holy Bible records few details about the overall life of Jesus after his birth, and throughout his life up till the age of thirty where Jesus begins his ministry to the people of Israel and the non-Israelite people of the Gentile regions.

Jesus was raised under the law of God and would have partaken of the practices of the faith of Israel. He would surely have made journeys with his parents to the temple in Jerusalem on holy days or feast occasions according to law of the God of Israel.

The Holy Bible records that at the age of thirty Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, whom was a great prophet and preacher of repentance sent by God to usher in the coming of the Messiah, or the anointed One, or Christ.

When Jesus was baptized in the water by John, the holy ghost in the form of a dove rested upon Jesus and the voice of God proclaimed “this is my Son in whom I am well pleased.”

Following his baptism Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by the devil for forty days without sin.

Following this temptation, Jesus, after he was strengthened, began his ministry of a message of repentance to all proclaiming the kingdom of God. He went about teaching in the synagogues, where the people of Israel congregated on the sabbath day to learn the law and prophets.

Jesus also begins to heal those with illness, infirmities, and the lame, the deaf, and the blind. Jesus even casted out demons, or ill spirits, of those who were possessed. As a result, his fame spread throughout the regions.

Jesus often healed on the holy sabbath day, and this act led the religious class, such as the Pharisees and Sadducees, scribes and elders of Israel, to conflict with Jesus for supposedly breaking the sabbath law. Jesus performed many such miracles on the sabbath days further angering the religious class.

Jesus chose twelve disciples, or students of his, whom he gave power to heal the sick, cast out demons, and spread the message of the kingdom of God.

Wherever Jesus walked he taught people about the law of God and proclaimed the kingdom of God. He often taught these through parables or stories to teach the people and help illustrate his ideas about the things and ways of God and his kingdom of heaven.

In addition to healing sickness and the lame, the blind, and deaf, and demon possessed people, he also raised a young girl from the dead, a boy, and Jesus raised a friend of his, Lazarus, from the dead.

The raising of Lazarus, to life, made Jesus renown in the region and caused the religious class to seek the death of Jesus, and even the resurrected Lazarus.

Jesus openly rebuked corrupted Judaism and the hypocrisy of the religion of the pharisees during his ministry, further creating a conflict of interest with the religious high classes.

Jesus, at times, used the term Son of man, messiah, and later he stated he was One with God and identified himself with “I AM,” the name of the God of Israel. Later Jesus proclaimed he was the Son of God. The Jewish religious authorities accused Jesus of blasphemy against God and sought to put him to death.

Jesus on more than one occasion pronounced and foretold his own death to his disciples telling them of fate he was to suffer at the hands of the Jewish and Gentile authorities.

One of Jesus’ twelve disciples would betray Jesus to the Jewish religious authorities to judge him for the accusation of blasphemy.

Before Jesus is arrested and taken away to be judged, Jesus held a Passover meal on the evening starting the Passover, a most holy day of Israel commemorating the salvation of Israel from Egyptian bondage.

At his last supper Jesus declared and proclaimed the New Covenant God was to make with Israel. He also proclaimed that his blood was to be shed for the remission of sins.

Later Jesus is arrested at the midnight hour on the Passover eve. In the early morning hours Jesus is judged, and in the early morning Jesus is condemned to death by crucifixion, to be nailed to a wooden cross, by the Roman authority. After three years of Jesus’ ministry on the earth, Jesus is crucified on the Passover day and expired on the cross.

Jesus was not only God in the flesh, but Jesus lived a perfect sinless life, obedient to the will of God. Jesus obeyed the law of God in every way, being the perfect Israelite. Jesus became the perfect holy sacrifice for God, as the Passover Lamb, to shed his holy blood on the cross to take away the sins of Israel and the sin of all men who would believe in Jesus and his name. This is why Jesus was born and why he came to die.

The Death of Jesus

The Holy Bible records the death of Jesus, where Jesus died on the holy Passover day from the painful punishment of Roman crucifixion, meaning he was nailed to an upright wooden post, or tree, with a cross beam. This is known today as the cross.

Because Jesus during his ministry identified himself as the great “I AM, a name of the Old Testament God, and declared he was one with the Father, God, the Jewish religious authorities were outraged and accused Jesus of blasphemy against God.

They also were threatened by the many miracles of Jesus and the fact that the people were gravitating toward Jesus and away from their authority and control. For this and other reasons Jesus was arrested, swiftly judged, beaten, and sentenced to death by crucifixion.

The Holy Bible records the events of his judgement before Jewish and Roman ruling authorities. Jesus was taken and beaten with many stripes of a whip, or Roman scourge. After the Roman centurions mockingly placed a scarlet purple robe and crown of thorns on his head mocking him saying” hail king of the Jews!”

Jesus was presented to Roman Pontius Pilate, who was last to question and judge Jesus. Pilate was not convinced Jesus deserved death, but the Jewish authorities and people called for Jesus to be crucified.

Being it was the Passover time a prisoner would be granted release; he asked the people if they wanted to release Jesus.

The Jewish crowd instead demanded a man who was in prison for murder and sedition by the name of Barabbas. Pilate therefore released the murderer and sentenced Jesus to be crucified.

The Bible records that Jesus, then flanked by Roman centurions, carries his cross, the cross beam, through the streets of Jerusalem out of the city walls and to a place where he will be raised up on a waiting upright post, or tree, to be nailed to and crucified for all to see.

Jesus was crucified along with two other criminals that Passover day. There were three cross crucifixions with Jesus in the center.

Placed on the cross of Jesus was a sign written by Pilate saying “Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews.”

The Bible records the last hours of Jesus life upon the cross. Jesus died at approximately 3pm on Passover day at the high of the hottest part of the day, the sun was suddenly darkened, and a great earthquake took place.

The holy veil of the holy temple in Jerusalem was torn in two parts ripped down the middle.

Before Jesus expires on the cross, he said to his Father in heaven “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Jesus did nothing to deserve the punishment of the cross, but he did it without protest, or fighting back, he consented to his death in the will of Almighty God his Father. Jesus came and died as a perfect holy sacrifice to fulfil God’s holy law and make atonement for the sins of his people Israel and all men and women and children the world over who would in faith also believe in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

When Jesus was alive and ministering to the people, Jesus told the Jewish religious leaders that “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Jesus was speaking of his body as the temple, not the temple in Jerusalem because Jesus was to arise from the dead on the third day after his death.

Jesus body was taken down from the cross the at evening ending the Passover day according to the law of God and placed in a tomb where Jesus rested on the sabbath day, or high holy day.

Because Jesus foretold that he would die and be raised the third day to life the Jewish authorities demanded that Pilate post a guard at the tomb to prevent the disciples of Jesus from stealing his body away. They did not believe he was going to be arise from the dead.

Therefore, the Romans also placed a large stone in front of the burial tomb and a unit of centurions to watch.

But when the third day came early in the morning it was witnessed that the heavy stone was rolled away leaving an open tomb. Those who witnessed this saw an angel appear and were told Jesus had risen from the dead.

The Resurrection of Jesus

The Holy Bible records that Jesus was crucified for the sin of the world and three days later arose from the dead according to his own prophetic words and the power of Almighty God.

When Jesus was ministering before his death on the cross Jesus said there shall be no sign given to this generation other than that of prophet Jonah, for as Jonah was in the belly of a whale three days, so shall the Son of man be three days in earth, or the grave.

Jesus foretold on several occasions that he would be judged, killed, and rise again the third day.

After Jesus bled and hung on the cross, his dead body was taken down and prepared for the burial. A wealthy believer in Jesus had a sepulcher, or tomb, made ready for the body and sealed the opening with a great stone.

The Jewish religious authorities recalling what Jesus said, that he would raise the third day to life, though they did not believe this necessarily, they petitioned the Romans to put a watch of Roman soldiers around the tomb of Jesus.

Jesus, who died on the Passover, was taken down from the cross on the evening of the first holy day of the feast of unleavened bread, which was a Sabbath high day.

Jesus rested from his work on the cross on the holy Sabbath day in the grave.

The third Hebrew day came, and in the morning several female believers in Jesus came to the sepulcher to anoint his body with spices. They were shocked when they saw the great stone rolled away covering the opening of the sepulcher. The Roman guard of soldiers had fled. In the tomb were the burial cloths of Jesus, but Jesus was not there.

There, the women were visited by a messenger of God, or angel, who informed them that Jesus was not there for he was risen, and to go and tell the other disciples of Jesus what they had seen and heard.

Jesus appeared that morning to one of the women, Mary Magdalen, whom Jesus had healed, and told her to go and tell the other disciples that Jesus has risen from the dead.

Later that day Jesus appeared to two of Jesus’ disciples and walked with them as Jesus taught them the scriptures concerning himself and why Christ had to suffer for the glory of God. Later Jesus sat down to eat with them. But before they realized whom they were talking to he vanished before their eyes.

The women and the two disciples who witness Jesus go and tell the other of Jesus’ disciples, but they did not believe the report.

Jesus that very evening of the third day then appears in the middle of his disciples where Jesus shows them his scars of the nails and the marks on his feet, hands, and the wound in his side.

Later that week Jesus appears to the disciples who were fishing, on a beach and eats some fish and talks to his disciples. This the third time Jesus appears to his disciples.

It is recorded in the Holy Bible Jesus spent forty days, following his death and resurrection, teaching the things pertaining to the kingdom of God with his disciples and many other believers who had witnessed his risen life before Jesus leaves them in his ascension to his Father, Almighty God in heaven.

The Ascension of Jesus

The Holy Bible gives witness to the ascension of Jesus.

After Jesus was risen from the dead, having conquered death and atoned for the sin of the world, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene at the open tomb of his resurrection and said to her, “Touch me not for I have not ascended to my Father” and he told her to go tell the disciples of Jesus, “I ascend to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

This was the first ascension of Jesus the Christ to the Father to receive the Kingdom of Heaven and all power by Almighty God to sit down at the right hand of God in all of God’s glory.

Jesus then returned to his disciples appearing several times as the alive risen Christ.

It is recorded in the book of Acts Jesus was witnessed appearing, staying, and teaching, his disciples for forty days. At the end of forty days Jesus commanded his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father to receive power from God and his Holy Spirit, or be baptized by the Holy Ghost.

Jesus told them they would receive power after the Holy Ghost had come upon them to witness to Judea, and Samaria, and all the regions of the world, the testimony of Christ Jesus and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And when he spoken his last words to them, they witnessed his final ascension to the sky and he was received into heavens before their eyes. While all the disciples of Jesus watched Jesus ascend out of sight, two messengers of God appeared, two angels, who said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven for this same Jesus which was taken up into heaven will return in like manner.”

The angels were announcing Jesus promised return!

Seven days later the disciples all gathered to pray in Jerusalem as the Lord had commanded them. Exactly 50 days following the Passover and passion week, on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit of God fell on the disciples and thus began the first day of the Church Age, or Age of the Holy Ghost, and the kingdom of heaven that Jesus preached about and proclaimed was now a reality on the earth.

The kingdom of heaven had finally come to mankind.

From the day of Pentecost, the birth of the Church, until today, the Church, the Body of believers of Jesus Christ, patiently, fervently, wait for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ shall not come again in the form of a lowly baby, but as the glory and power and triumphant Kingship of Lord of Lords and King of kings the Mighty God and Holy Redeemer and the Great Savior of the world to gather his saints, the Church, and his elect of both the living the dead saints of God.

This is the Second Coming of Jesus all the world shall witness, where Christ will gather all his people and they shall be his holy people and He shall be their God forever more.
